TYPE LOCALITY: MEXICO

TYPES: Lectotype (Mus. Genua), 3 Paratypes (Mus. Paris)

Range: UNITED STATES, Arizona, New Mexico. MEXICO Map 17

Habitat: Creosote Scrub Desert, Oak Woodland, Pinyon / Juniper

United States records. Generally distributed through South Eastern Arizona and Eastern New Mexico. We have 41 records.

Discussion

        An extremely distinctive ant, which is known only from the male caste. This species is superficially similar to the more common N. harrisi, but may be readily separated from it and other species by the distinctive divided form of its stipes, which is shared by no other U. S species.
